Does A Degree In Economics Limit Me To Banks Or Financial Services Careers?

I would like to start up ,my own business someday in the future, but i am not sure how a degree in economics will be useful for my career plans .
I will begin my studies in economics at the beginning of September. However, someone mentioned that a degree in economics will lead me to certain careers such as Banking, risk management, portfolio management, financial analyst, insurance etc. To be honest, some of these mentioned careers are not what i ever wanted.
Does any one have a better idea about how a degree in economics could be useful to a self-employed person?
Thank you in advance

Many graduates do not find themselves in their studied field of expertise as they follow their passion or exciting business opportunities. Economics will always give you the sound foundation for financial and market savvy to steer a business through complex money and market decisions. Being self-employed may mean wearing several hats. Having an economics degree will help ensure you are wearing the right hat at the right time. Best of Success in finding your job/business of choice.

If you are planning to run your own business you should definitely incorporate Marketing in your further education even if it secondary to economics.
It really depends on what type of business you plan to run as to whether you should study any subject in particular or even go to university at all. Economics is probably as good as any subject to study while you are keeping your options open.
Good luck.
