What Will Happen To My Credit Score If My Wife Gets Into Trouble With A Credit Account?

December 10th, 2009 at 01:00pm Under Credit

My wife has no income or credit history. She received a credit card application in the mail. The application does not require me to put in any of my personal information but it does ask to state household income.
If she gets into trouble with her card, will it affect my credit or will the damage be limited to her credit score?

Is Credit Card Debt Considered An Open Account Or A Written Contract?

November 30th, 2009 at 12:57pm Under Credit

I live in the State of Georgia and am being sued over an old credit card that I defaulted on. It has been more than 4 years but less than 6 years since the date of default, so depending on whether credit card debt is considered an open account or a written contract in the State of Georgia, the Statute of Limitations may or may not apply. The Staute of Limitations is 4 years for open accounts and 6 years for written contracts. Does anyone know for certain which type applies for credit card debt in Georgia? The account is with Citibank MasterCard and was opened in the late 80′s or early 90′s. Thanks.

Closing A Credit Card Account That Is Inactive? How Much Will It Affect My Credit Report?

November 22nd, 2009 at 04:55am Under Credit

I’ve had this account for about two years, and I haven’t used it in a long time, and I’m thinking of closing it but I don’t know how it would affect my credit report. This is a secure credit card, with only a $300 limit. I have two other credit cards that I use a lot more often and I’ve been very responsible about paying bills on time.

How Does Your Credit Get Affected By A Closed Credit Card Account Due To A Stolen Credit Card?

October 25th, 2009 at 04:54pm Under Credit

What happens to one’s credit when the person’s sole credit card is taken and used illegally? We’re not sure how this will affect efforts to refinance, as this is my wife’s only credit card. She will be receiving a replacement in the next week and will have an affidavit indicating that the charges were not hers.
Any suggested approaches to ensuring that her credit info is considered before the card was stolen and the account closed?

How Can I Get My Credit Card Company To Report Account Information?

October 17th, 2009 at 08:54am Under Credit

I got my credit report today and it shows that my total credit amount is $300 and I have $296 available. After further inspection I noticed that only one credit card had reported a credit limit/max balance and that all of my credit cards hadn’t been reported since April. Is there an effective way to contact the credit card companies and get them to report accurate and up to date information to the credit bureaus? I feel that this issue is affecting my credit score, so I would like to fix this.
Thanks in advance.
