I have a pretty low credit score (597) and want to begin rebuilding my credit. The score is low from charge offs about 3 years ago. Is there a certain bank or credit card that is easier on people like me that will give me a credit card? And yes–I do plan on paying on time. It would be for small simple purchases that I would otherwise buy with cash and could pay off easily each month.

I have a low credit score. Most my bad credit is old credit. I have a bunch of little loans from finance companies, but they charge really high interest rates. I would like to get a loan for about $5000 to $6000 to pay these off and have one payment that would be lower.

I am thinking of getting a particular credit card to use on a purchase due to the fact it offers money off the purchase. I know this isn’t a great idea, so I’m still thinking about it, but my concern is with my credit. My credit is fairly good right now and I’m wondering if I get the card and cancel it shorty after, how long does it take to build the credit I lost from getting & cancelling the card, back to normal? If it’s just a few points, does that take weeks/months? Thanks.

I have recently checked my credit report and I realized I had several credit card accounts which were unused for several years running with a zero balance for some time.
I would like to close them to resolve my accounts and improve my overall credit.
I have to admit that some of the credit companies are quite odd (not cititbank or MBNA) but smaller credit houses from obscure stores I once purchased something to earn the 10% off etc.
How do I go about contacting the credit card companies to close these empty accounts?

I’m wanting to establish good credit but I don’t know where to start. I don’t want high interest and I know if you don’t have credit history, your credit is bad. Please tell me which credit card I should get. Thanks.

I’ve had this account for about two years, and I haven’t used it in a long time, and I’m thinking of closing it but I don’t know how it would affect my credit report. This is a secure credit card, with only a $300 limit. I have two other credit cards that I use a lot more often and I’ve been very responsible about paying bills on time.

I have a student loan that is about 50K. I am making payments on it but I am on the income contingent plan and every month I get a statement showing that what Im paying is not enough to pay even the interest, so the balance is higher every month. Does this negatively affect my credit, I pay every month on time but I want to know if this will affect my credit. Does the 50K count towards debt to available credit ratio also. How does the student loan affect credit ratings?

I currently have two credit cards, but would like to get one final one. I’ve been getting turned down for a few recently that I thought sounded good. What are some good cards and websites where I can get a credit card that almost every gets approved for? I’m young(21) and trying to establish some more credit. My friend got approved for a Best Buy credit card tonight and his credit isn’t that good. However, I just want a main card(for example: visa, discover) and not a store card. Thanks for any help.

I got my first credit card a couple years ago via Bank of America, and my current credit limit is $9000. Since I don’t have any experience with credit cards in the past, I’m wondering if this is good or not? Is there anyway I can increase this limit? What do most credit card limits start at?
