I want to start an Ameritrade account or one of the other brands of online investing. What’s a good amount to get started?

Is it easier to modify a loan if you don’t fit the underwriting guidelines for an FHA refinance?
Not in foreclosure; just have a high-interest rate ARM and too high of a DTI.
Thanks for your input.

I’ve had this account for about two years, and I haven’t used it in a long time, and I’m thinking of closing it but I don’t know how it would affect my credit report. This is a secure credit card, with only a $300 limit. I have two other credit cards that I use a lot more often and I’ve been very responsible about paying bills on time.

I have always been interested in the stock market and how it works, and I believe that I am not old enough and mature enough to invest. I have had a $8 an hour job for about a year now, so i have a good amount of money to start with. But where should I start? How much money should I put at risk for my first time? Where can I find a good source to learn even more about investing? Thanks in advance.

I am starting a niche affiliate marketing service.
I allow both affiliates and merchants to join for free.
I intend to charge the merchants a % per completed transaction.
What do you think would be a fair percentage?

I heard that mortgage brokers drive Porches and make tons of money. By and large, how much does the average mortgage broker make?

I am going to ask another question regarding which CC should I add to my credit card profile to add to my rewards. I have excellent credit, pay my balance in full each month, and I use my CC to pay for everything I can to rack up points/miles etc.
I am at a point where I want to increase my points and miles so there are some options. The question is, what is too much. I basically share a VISA with my wife, and have an older VISA that i keep. I realize that you should keep older credit cards for history. I want to add at least one AM/EX either the Starwood points, or the Delta Miles. I also might switch our Cap1 card to the signature to get 2 points for every $1 spent, instead of 1.25 for $1. That is a new card, not a switch. And recently, I have received letters for UNITED miles (20,000 bonus) and AA Miles (21,000 Bonus). I would love to use those just to add to my miles on those flights. Could I add 3-4 cards without hurting my excellent credit? I will not rack up debt.

Given all the worries about credit in this country, and subprime mortgages, I was curious as to what the entire amount of home mortgage debt is. There are about 110 million households in the country, with 70% of them owned residences. Let’s say there are 75 million owned homes. Not all have mortgages, but if 70 million do, and the average mortgage amount on such homes is $200,000, that comes out to a scary $14 TRILLION of mortgage debt in the USA. If just 2% default, the amount of bad home loans is $280 billion. It could obviously be much higher.
Does anyone know what total mortgage debt is per household and in total? This is a real problem that could damage the economy.
